Acer seems to think so, and it’s doing its best to carve out a niche for itself with its new 24-inch D241H model, which promises to do nothing short of “revolutionize the way you use a monitor.” To accomplish that feat, the monitor packs built-in WiFi, along some basic internet / media player capabilities that will let you check your email, keep watch on the news, weather and other things via some widgets, or simply enjoy some music, photos or videos. March 2nd, 2010 Eric NVIDIA’s Ion 2 chipset — or “the next generation of Ion” as the company clunkily calls it — hasn’t exactly been a secret, but NVIDIA is finally signing on the dotted line and giving up the deets on the new Intel Atom-compatible graphics chipset. It hasn’t been a secret that Ion 2 uses NVIDIA’s new Optimus GPU switching tech to automatically toggle between the Pineview chipset’s integrated GMA 3150 and a discrete NVIDIA Ion GPU, but we can now confirm that both the 16-core Ion chip for desktops and eight-core unit for netbooks are based on the GeForce G210 GPU. ... February 23rd, 2010 Eric Viewsonic isn’t quite our go-to for excellent PC design just yet, but its new VNB131 ViewBook Pro is a surprisingly decently attractive alternative to the usual ULV fare from the likes of Acer and ASUS. Maybe it’s just that touch of “1999″ in the aluminum curves and accents that we’re finding ourselves suddenly drawn to. Called the Play MP3 Player it’s inspired by origami and to control it you fold it to create the shape of what you want to do.
